Nonstop Cruisin'

When Hawaiian Airlines announced it was going to offer the first nonstop flight between Lihue, Kauai and Kona, which is on the Big Island, I jumped at the chance to cover it.

So, since the inaugural flight was from Kona to Lihue, the airline put me and a coworker, Jessica Else, on an early morning to get to the Big Island. We were only there for about an hour — just enough time to interview passengers and attend a blessing ceremony — but it was an awesome way to get off Kauai for a bit. The experience also validated my dreams on becoming a travel writer.
